About in-store services

Do you offer warranty service?

You can purchase a 5-year warranty for new digital cameras, lenses, and video cameras (some products are excluded) for a fee of 5% of the purchase price, which will allow you to use the product as many times as you like in the event of a natural breakdown. We also offer our own 6-month warranty for used Leica cameras. (Free, some products are excluded)
*Tax-free purchases are not eligible. This offer is available only to residents of Japan.

Can I pick up online purchases from Kitamura Camera?

You can pick up and pay for products purchased from the Kitamura Camera online shop.

Is there Wi-Fi in the store?

You can connect to free Wi-Fi anywhere in the store.

About purchases in general

I am under 18, can you buy my item?

As stipulated by the Youth Protection and Development Ordinance of each prefecture, if you are under 18, we ask that you fill out and submit the “Parental Consent Form” provided at the store. After receiving the application, we will contact the parent by phone to confirm the purchase assessment. For direct purchases, the serial number is included in the packing kit.

The manufacturing number (serial number) has disappeared, can you still buy it?

If the manufacturing number (serial number) was originally there but has disappeared or cannot be read, we cannot buy it. Please note.

Can you buy it as a corporation?

We sincerely apologize, but we are unable to assist with this matter at our store.

Will they buy it immediately if I bring it to the store?

Depending on the store’s situation, it may take some time for the appraisal and purchase. If you are in a hurry, please call the store in advance to confirm.

Why do I need an ID to buy it?

Because the Secondhand Goods Business Law requires us to verify your identity. In addition, if you are buying directly, we are required to confirm that the address on your ID matches the address on your application (packing kit and product delivery address). In addition, if there is an error in your ID, we will not be able to appraise it until we receive the correct ID. Please note this in advance.

Can I cancel or withdraw from the purchase after it has been made?

In-store purchase:You can cancel at the store only on the day of purchase.
Direct purchase:Cancellations cannot be accepted after the purchase has been approved.

About MAX Price Purchase

What is “MAX Price Purchase”?

This service is only available when you apply for direct buying at the Shinjuku Kitamura Camera Store or from this website. If the item you send us is in AA-B condition after evaluation, we will purchase it at the price displayed on this website without any reduction. However, if it is determined that the item is defective, such as missing important accessories such as a battery or charger, it may not be eligible. Can I take my camera or lens to a nearby Kitamura store and have them bought at the “MAX Price Purchase” price?

Sorry, this service is only available when you apply for direct buying at the Shinjuku Kitamura Camera Store or from this website.

Which products are eligible for “MAX Price Buying”?

When searching for buying prices on the site, the “MAX Price Buying” mark is included. Of course, you can send eligible and non-eligible products together.

Can I use MAX Price Buyback in conjunction with campaigns such as high-price buyback campaigns?

Sorry, we cannot do that.

I have an overseas model that is eligible for MAX Price Buyback, can you buy it at MAX Price?

This is not eligible for MAX Price Buyback. We will buy it at the regular appraisal.

When I searched for a product I have, it said it is not eligible for MAX Price Buyback, but can I still buy it?

Yes, we will buy it at the regular appraisal. If you are sending it directly, please send it in the packing kit. If you are in-store, please bring it with you.

There is a Kitamura 5-year warranty, but will the MAX Price Buyback get a 10% increase?

Sorry, but the MAX Price Buyback cannot be used in conjunction with the Kitamura 5-year warranty “Trade-in/Buyback 10% Increase”.

Why is the MAX Price Buyback reduced?

The appraised value will be reduced if the product you are requesting to be bought; is as follows:

  • ・Missing “important accessories”
  • ・Prominent dents
  • ・Malfunctioning
  • ・Mold, haze, etc.
  • ・Scratches on the lens
  • ・Serial number is missing or unreadable
  • ・Image sensor has dirt or scratches that cannot be removed with a blower
  • ・Waterproof, splashproof, and dustproof products with tears in the ring that performs the function
  • ・Other cases that we determine to be “problematic”

What are the “important accessories” that, if not present, will not be eligible for “MAX Price Buying”?

“Important accessories” are accessories that cannot be used continuously without them, or are necessary for carrying.
*All items are genuine products from the manufacturer.

About direct buying

After I applied, I was informed that there was a problem with my identity verification documents. What does this mean?

Please check that none of the following applies to you, and then complete the procedure again from the information email.
Once we have confirmed your ID, we will send you a packing kit.


●Not valid as proof
Please prepare one of the following documents.
  • ・Driver’s license
  • ・Health insurance card
    (No photo is OK, but please mask the insured symbol, number, and insurer number so that they are not visible (take a photo hidden. Images that have been edited after taking the photo cannot be used))
  • ・Passport
    (Only those issued by February 3, 2020 and within their expiration date are accepted. Those issued after February 4, 2020 cannot be used.)
●Expired
Please prepare a document that is within its expiration date.
●Does not match the name on the application
Please prepare a document with the same name as the application.
●Does not match the address on the application
Please prepare a document with the same address as the application. Purchase applications and packing kits cannot be sent to an address different from the address on your ID. If you wish to apply using the address listed on your ID, please submit a new application as changes to your application cannot be made in accordance with the secondhand goods dealer law. In addition, we will cancel your current application, so please reply to the notification email to that effect.
Date of birth does not match the application date
We believe that the date of birth listed on your ID is correct. In this case, please submit a new application as changes to your application cannot be made in accordance with the secondhand goods dealer law. The items you have requested to be purchased will be returned to you.
● The “insured person symbol, number, and insurer number” on your health insurance card are not hidden
Please mask the insured person symbol, number, and insurer number so that they are not visible, then take a photo and upload it. (Masking…Please take a photo with the relevant parts hidden. Images that have been edited after the photo is taken cannot be used.)
● Images have been edited
When masking the insured person symbol, number, and insurer number on your health insurance card, “images that have been edited after the photo is taken and hidden” cannot be used. When taking the photo, please cover the relevant parts with paper, sticky notes, etc.

The process from application for buying and payment is as follows.

    Please be sure to use the included cash-on-delivery courier slip. We will keep a record of the inquiry number on the cash-on-delivery slip, and by linking it to the application acceptance number, we will use it as part of our identity verification based on the secondhand goods dealer law.

    Depending on the financial institution you specify, it may take some time for the transfer of the purchase price. *If the buying price exceeds 1 million yen, it will take some time.

Can I receive the packing kit in a delivery box, at the door, or at the office?

In accordance with the Secondhand Goods Business Law, the packing kit can only be received by hand. Delivery to a delivery box, at the door, or at the office is not possible. If these are written in the application information, we will delete them when creating the delivery slip before shipping the packing kit. You can specify the delivery date and time when applying for the packing kit, so please use this.

I sent a buying request to Direct Buying, how long will it take to contact you about the appraisal?

The estimated time from when we send you an email confirming receipt of the purchase request to when we contact you about the appraisal is as follows. 2 to 3 days (variable) Please wait a while until we contact you about the appraisal.

How long does it take for direct purchase to be transferred?

In most cases, the transfer is completed one week after you send the buying request to us. (For reference) The “packing kit” will be shipped on the business day after you apply online. We will contact you about the appraisal results within 2 to 3 business days after your buying request arrives. The money will be transferred to your designated account on the next business day after we receive your account information. (However, if the purchase price is over 1 million yen, it will take 2-3 business days.)

It didn’t fit in the packing kit I received. What should I do? Can I prepare the box and cash-on-delivery slip myself?

  • ■If there are not enough boxes
    If there are not enough boxes and you need additional boxes, we apologize for the inconvenience, but please submit a new purchase application. We will not accept your cash-on-delivery slip if you prepare it yourself.
  • ■If the box size does not fit
    Only if you use the cash-on-delivery slip we sent you, please send it in a box prepared by you. (The box we sent you cannot be used for another occasion, so please discard it.)

What is included in the “packing kit” that will be sent to you after you apply?

We will send you “bubble wrap”, “Yamato Transport cash-on-delivery slip”, and “double-sided printed documents (※)” to wrap your important purchase request in the cardboard box size you specified. ※Double-sided printed documents … “A side: About documents when returning” and “B side: How to use the packing kit” are printed on both sides. “A side: About documents when returning” This is an explanation of the documents when returning, so please be sure to check it.

  • ・Direct buying application form
    If you selected “copy of resident’s card” as the identification document when applying, or if you applied for buying by phone, please fill out and send it together with the buying request. If you uploaded an image of the identification document when applying, you do not need to fill it out.
  • ・Direct buying application consent form
    If you are under 18 years old and applying for buying, please make sure that your guardian fills out and stamps this form and sends it together with the buying request.

Please be sure to send it using the enclosed “Yamato Transport Cash-on-Delivery Invoice”. We will record the inquiry slip number of the cash-on-delivery invoice and use it as part of our identity verification. If you send it using any other invoice, you will need to send and return the application documents again.

What format can I upload images for my identity verification document?

Only JPEG format (.jpg, .jpeg) can be uploaded. We cannot check images in HEIF format (.heif, .heic).

[For iPhone users] If you are using an iPhone with iOS 11 or later, the image will be saved in HEIF format when you take a photo. If you take a photo with your iPhone and then copy it to a computer, it will remain in HEIF format, so please convert it to JPEG format before uploading. If you upload directly from your iPhone, it will automatically be converted to JPEG format.

How large can the image of my identity verification document be?

Please limit the size of each image to 10MB.

I live overseas, can I apply?

Sorry, but we only accept orders within Japan. We do not accept customers from embassies or US military bases in Japan, as it is difficult to verify their identity.

How much will the shipping cost be when I apply for a buying? Also, if I am not satisfied with the price after the appraisal, how much will the return shipping cost be?

There is no shipping cost. We will cover all costs.

It seems that you will also do buying camera equipment, but can I send my tripod and bag as well?

There are cases where we cannot put a price on them, but we will appraise them if you send them to us.
